On International Women's Day 2024, the global theme Inspire Inclusion takes centre stage, emphasising the importance of fostering an environment where every woman, regardless of background, feels seen, heard, and valued. This year's theme serves as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility we share in championing diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our lives.
At POPX, we proudly embrace these values, recognising that the strength of our organisation lies in the diverse perspectives and talents of our team members. Our commitment to inspire inclusion goes beyond mere rhetoric, as we strive to create a workplace culture that celebrates the unique contributions of every individual, irrespective of gender, ensuring that each voice is not only acknowledged but also amplified. Below are contributions from around the company to pay tribute to International Women’s Day 2024.
POPX Support
Freya and Cat from our support team pay homage to Emmeline Pankhurst, who coined the words “Deeds, not Words” as the motto of the Suffragettes in the UK.
“Emmeline’s words encapsulate the essence of action over mere rhetoric in affecting meaningful change. As women working in a small tech company, this quote resonates deeply with our approach in the POPX Support Team. By actively contributing to the success of the company through hard work, innovation and determination, we look to break barriers and inspire other women to pursue careers in technology. Through our deeds, we strive to promote diversity and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable workplace.”
Chloe and Vinu
Chloe and Vinu chose to put the spotlight on Serena Williams, who said: "The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up."
“Serena’s quote captures the essence of empowerment among women, a sentiment that is strongly ingrained in the workplace at POPX. It is inspiring to work with so many incredible women. To see them grow and pioneer new ways of working in a dynamic, innovative and challenging environment of a growing tech business, while keeping the customer core to everything, is truly special. Within POPX, there is a supportive and encouraging network of women who are always available to learn from. Quality Assurance
Madhu, in the Quality Assurance team, shined her spotlight on Michelle Obama for her wise words: “There is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish.”
“In the dynamic realm of software testing, we embody the spirit of the Error Erasers. With unwavering dedication, we meticulously ensure software quality, championing this with precision and expertise. Beyond my role at POPX, I like to think of myself as a trailblazer, standing at the forefront of crafting resilient and flawless digital solutions. I’d like to honour all women in technology on this occasion, with a special shout out to those that exemplify a commitment and excellence in the crucial field of software testing. Together we help shape the future of technology with our invaluable contributions.”
ServiceNow Technical Consultant
Xenia, who works as a ServiceNow Technical Consultant, offered her personal view of her time at POPX compared to previous experiences.
“In an industry where women are often nudged towards non-technical roles under the guise of leveraging their innate strengths, I am privileged to be part of a team that eschews gender-based assumptions. During my career in technical consultancy, I have noticed a theme of how women are often encouraged towards soft skill development rather than nurturing their technical capabilities, overlooking their potential. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I am reminded of the significance of creating environments where all individuals can flourish without limitations or having to mute down parts of themselves. Within POPX, my career aspirations were taken seriously and I was given full control over how I wanted to develop as a technical professional.”
Engagement Management
Lucy and Sonal from our Engagement Management team focused on Amelia Earhart, who once wisely remarked: “The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.”
